Nutrition and Healthy Eating

A lot of the time on fitness websites we seem to devote to talking about exercise workouts but very little to what we eat. I just want to emphasize that proper nutrition is extremely important to maintaining a healthy lifestyle and above all losing weight or maintaining your ideal weight. Therefore, proper nutrition and exercise go hand-in-hand.

On my website and this blog, I admit that I talk a lot about various ways of exercising and working out, but you will also find snippets in the discussion about the importance of proper nutrition.

I cannot explain to you exactly what you should be eating and how much. It’s a complicated topic because it all depends on your metabolism and lifestyle, consequently you really need to customize your eating habits to your individual needs. What I can recommend is that you try to eat plenty of vegetables, fruits and nuts on a daily basis. You can’t go wrong here. I also recommend that you eat only lean meats and fish. Try not to consume the larger fish too often like tuna, swordfish, etc… due to the concerns of them accumulating hazardous chemicals and toxins. You’ve probably heard about this on the news. Basically if you eat meats in moderation, you will be fine.

Also, try to stick to eating smaller meals. Do not skip breakfast because we all now that it’s the most important meal of the day and do not over-indulge at dinnertime!

Drinking herbal teas without caffeine like Green Tea and Chamomille Tea help to boost your immune system. Green Tea even helps you to lose weight!

This is just a basic discussion of the importance of nutrition and healthy eating as a means to staying healthy and at your ideal weight. When you do go on an exercise program, I recommend that you examine what you are eating too. Also, there are many people who are so used to eating out or eating junk food, they do not know how to eat properly or how to change their diet and eating habits. For those individual I recommend that you seek the help of a nutritionist.
